Bibliography :
I was originally trained as an archaeologist and become fascinated by the potential of using ancient DNA to answer longstanding questions about the human past. My research is focused on recovering and analyzing DNA from archaeological plant specimens, and I try to understand how ancient people transformed wild plants into the world’s most important crops. I have investigated the domestication histories of maize, grapevine, and sunflower, and am currently exploring the agricultural practices associated with winemaking from the Neolithic to medieval times.
