Research Topics :
During my PhD I will focus on analysing an extensive dataset of (ancient) horse genomes and epigenomes recently produced in the lab to identify the prehistorical and historical modifications underlying the origins of the modern horse. It follows up that modern domestic horses descend from a domestication wave that replaced in the 3rd millennium BCE the horse stock that was previously domesticated in the Eneolithic period (Librado et al. Science 2017 ; Gaunitz et al. Science 2018). One of the core objectives of this project will be to identify the exact geographical and temporal locus of the mysterious second domestication centre. This subject is part of the ERC PEGASUS project led by the Prof Dr Ludovic Orlando.

Ongoing Project :
- Establishment of a domesticated horses population model for the past 5000 years.
- Definition of a SNPs panel along the genome to describe the relationship between horse populations, old and modern.
- Identification of the epigenetic modifications within the horse’s bone tissues.

Nov 18 – present : PhD in Ancient DNA and Horse Evolutionary Genomics at the University of Toulouse III, Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France).

Jul 18 : Conference with undergraduate travel and monitoring award at the Society for molecular biology and evolution (SMBE, Yokohama, Japan). Poster presentation : Exploring the genomic structure of the nematode M.enterolobii.

Jan 18- Jun 18 : Internship project at the Institute Nationale de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA, Sophia-Antipolis, France). Subject : Exploring the genomic structure of the nematode M.enterolobii. Main tasks : Identify homologous duplicated regions and missing genes in collinear blocks. Confirm palindrome structure with long reads and compute synteny divergence.

Feb 17- Jul 17 : Internship project at the Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging (IRCAN, Nice, France). Subject : Bioinformatic analyses of domesticated and wild yeasts strains. Main tasks : Control sample quality. Mask subtelomeres and repeated elements. Compare viability between strains. Call aneuploidies, segmental duplications & genomic sequence divergence.

2016-2018 : Master degree of biology, informatics and mathematics at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (Nice, France). Applied methods of computational modelling, proteomics, genomic sequencing and analysis.

2013-2016 : Bachelor degree of science, major biology at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (Nice, France). Fundamental and theoretical sciences including biology, physics, mathematics & “omics” technologies.
